Last month (or last week – I don’t remember because time means nothing) I received a message on Instagram as follows:
Hey I was scrolling through some Alberta related tags when I came across your page. I am looking for some new things to do in Edmonton this summer. What are some of your favourite things to do there?
My first response obviously was………..?
I sat on the message for one week before sending off my sad reply.
- Outdoor pools
- Legislature (for flowers + Pokemon)
- Taste of Edmonton

I also recommended this person follow an actual tourism account, or content creator for a more comprehensive list. I do the things I like to do, which might not fit into anyone else’s idea of a good time!
But then I got to thinking – overthinking if I’m being honest – and figured I might as well start making a list for my “Summer Would Be Cool If” list. What are the activities I like to do in Edmonton, Alberta in the summer?

- Mural hunting
- Hiking in the River Valley or one of our many ravines
- Going downtown on the bus, getting a drink at Dagu and wandering around
- Picnics
- RAD Torque Raceway
- Walking down Whyte Ave, watching for cool cars with my son
- Cycling on one of the open streets paths
- Riverhawks and Elks games with family

And there are so many festivals, car meet ups, parades, BBQs to try. Maybe I will add a few new things to my list this year.
What are YOUR favourite things to do in Edmonton in the summer?

I really love all your ideas for a cool summer! I also like hiking in Edmonton (it’s so green and fresh!) and catching an Elks game. I would add eating on a patio and hitting up Taste of Edmonton and K-Days to my own list. Can’t wait to enjoy summer in Edmonton with you!
