Earth Month is coming up, so it’s time for some Trash Walks!
We celebrate Earth Month around here in a few ways, but Trash Walks are closely aligned with our priorities of:
- getting outside
- climate justice
- building community
HOW THIS WORKS
If you have joined us for a Trash Walk in the past, thank you! We’ve made some changes this year, so please pay attention!
We meet at a location around Edmonton on Earth Day, Monday April 22. Garbage bags are provided, and we always have some “grabbers” to share.
Introductions happen, then we all split off to wander in the direction – and at the pace – of our personal choice. We pick up garbage for one hour. If you need more bags or assistance during this time, please find Lisa out there. We have a sharps container, but please leave any trash that looks unsafe, or must be disposed of at an Eco Station.
Once we’re finished walking, we head to a secondary location for snacks and conversation!
WHAT TO BRING
Not Ladylike will provide you with garbage bags and grabbers. Please consider bringing the following items for your comfort and safety!
- Water bottle
- Work gloves
- Layered, weather appropriate clothing
LOCATION DETAILS
We meet at Ritchie hall for announcements, introductions and to get our equipment sorted. Then we walk through the neighbourhood streets north toward Ricky’s All Day Grill for post trash walk chit chat.

- All ages! Kid-friendly means you might not cover as much ground, but we love getting the whole family involved in trash walks!
- We cover both paved and soft terrain (grass, mulch, gravel), so wheeled pals are very welcome!
- NLL recommends staying off of front yards and out of alleys.
